Service Overview

The driveway service serious homeowners book — and book again.

Your driveway is the first thing visitors and buyers see. After a few British winters, even premium block paving turns black with algae, the joint sand washes out, and weeds take hold. We bring it back in a day.

EasyClean Exteriors specialises in restoring block paving, imprinted concrete, natural stone setts and tarmac driveways across Hampshire, West Sussex and the south coast. We use a closed rotary surface cleaner that contains the water and grit, removes ingrained dirt evenly, and never leaves the tiger-stripe marks you get from a hand-held wand.

Every job includes pre-treatment with a professional biocide to kill algae and lichen at the root, full mechanical cleaning, and a controlled rinse. Where joints have washed out, we re-sand with kiln-dried sand and brush it in. Where the colour has faded, we'll talk you through whether a sealer is worth it — and if it isn't, we'll tell you.

We work for homeowners in detached and semi-detached homes, landlords preparing rental properties between tenants, and commercial property managers responsible for shared parking areas. Same standards. Same straightforward pricing.

What Happens If You Wait

What happens when you leave a driveway too long.

A driveway is a working surface — and the longer dirt, algae and moisture sit on it, the more expensive the eventual repair becomes. Most of the damage we see is preventable.

Algae becomes a slip hazard

Black and green algae thrive in damp shaded areas. Wet pavers become genuinely dangerous underfoot — especially for older visitors and children.

Joint sand washes away

Without sand in the joints, blocks shift under car weight. Once movement starts, sunken sections and tripping edges follow within a season or two.

Weeds and moss take root

Roots widen joints, lift blocks and stain the surface. Killing weeds with supermarket sprays only masks the issue — they return within weeks.

Our Process

A clear, methodical system — built around your time and your property.

STEP 01

Inspection

We assess the surface, age, material and condition on site or from your photos — and quote in writing.

STEP 02

Preparation

Plants, drains and fragile fixtures are covered. Loose debris is cleared before cleaning begins.

STEP 03

Treatment

The correct chemistry and pressure for the surface — biocides, detergents or pure cleaning where appropriate.

STEP 04

Verification

A controlled rinse, inspection in natural light, and a walk-around with you to check every metre.

STEP 05

Completion

Site left spotless. Aftercare advice and a clear written invoice.

Why It's Worth Doing Properly

The benefits you'll actually notice — and the ones that pay for themselves.

Single-visit clean

Most domestic driveways are completed in a single working day. Joint re-sanding is available as an optional add-on.

Adds measurable value

Estate agents consistently cite kerb appeal as one of the cheapest, fastest ways to lift an asking price. A clean driveway is the easiest win.

Prevents costly relaying

Maintaining joints and surface stops blocks shifting. Relaying a sunken driveway costs many times more than regular cleaning.

Safer for your family

Slip-resistant surface, no loose blocks, no hidden moss. Especially important in shaded north-facing driveways through winter.

Long-lasting finish

Pre-treatment with biocide means the clean keeps working for weeks after we leave — algae regrowth is dramatically slower.

Cleaner cars and shoes

No more black moss prints in the porch, no more tyre-tracked grime onto the road. A genuinely practical upgrade.

The Detail

How we clean every type of driveway across Hampshire.

Different surfaces need different techniques. Here's how we approach the most common driveway types we see across the south coast — and the situations where each method shines.

Block paving — clay and concrete

We pre-treat the surface with a sodium-hypochlorite-based biocide to break down algae, moss and lichen at the cellular level. After dwell time, the entire surface is cleaned with a 21-inch enclosed rotary surface cleaner running at 200–250 bar — high enough to lift ingrained grime, low enough to preserve the paver surface and adjacent joints. We then re-sand all joints with kiln-dried silica sand and brush to fill, ensuring blocks lock together properly under load. Clay pavers (Marshalls Tegula, Brett Omega, etc.) retain their colour brilliantly after cleaning. Concrete pavers may benefit from a colour-enhancing impregnating sealer afterwards.

Imprinted / pattern-imprinted concrete

Imprinted concrete needs a gentler approach — the surface is a coloured topping layer that can be damaged by aggressive cleaning. We use lower pressure with detergent dwell, then a soft rinse. After cleaning, imprinted concrete almost always needs re-sealing to restore the wet-look finish and protect the colour layer from UV and weather damage. We use solvent-based acrylic sealers from Resiblock and Smartseal.

Tarmac and resin-bound

Tarmac is rinsed with detergent at low pressure to avoid lifting the surface binder. Diesel and oil stains are spot-treated with a tarmac-safe degreaser. Resin-bound drives need careful low-pressure cleaning to preserve the aggregate bond — we never use a wand at close range on resin.

Residential vs commercial driveways

Domestic jobs typically run 60–200m² and complete in a single visit. Commercial car parks and large communal driveways are scheduled in zones with cones and signage, often outside business hours to minimise disruption. Proof of insurance can be provided to managing agents and facilities teams on request.
